Brew Tools

Latest Version 3.1(click to download)
Released 11-27-10.

If you are Updating from Version 2:

Please uninstall the previous version prior to installing the new version. It uses the same registry keys, which keeps the registry from becoming full of useless junk keys and cluttering up your Operating System. The previous version is 2.1.  Once you've downloaded the file, unzip the contents to a temporary folder and run the 'Setup' file. There is absolutely no spyware or trojan activity in this software and it does not require an internet connection to run.  I would have liked to have it "phone home" on install just so I can see how many people are downloading and using it, but I would have to write a web services application and I'm just too lazy.

Features include:

  • Hydrometer Correction for temperature
  • Conversion from °Plato to Specific Gravity
  • Extract to Specific Gravity for Liquid Malt Extract, Dry Malt Extract, Corn Sugar (Dextrose) and table sugar (Sucrose)
  • Alcohol content, Calories and freezing point for a given quantity (12oz, 5 Gal, etc.)
  • CO2 Priming guide for bottles with priming sugar or kegs with forced carbonation
  • BJCP Style Guide (2008)
  • Hop Utilization Calculator
  • Water Adjustment Calculator

Here are some screenshots of the most recently updated features.

Minor revision to Release 2
Release 2 was updated with the new logo and updated to the current BJCP style guidlines.  In addition the .NET framework was updated to 2.0 (it was 1.1).  Overall these are minor changes.

2nd Major update released Nov 6, 2005. Several new features have been added including bottle priming and forced carbonation calculators as well as a hop utilization calculator. Calculator for Extract Weight now accounts for Liquid Malt Extract in addition to the original Dry Malt Extract. Behind the scenes many of the calculation functions have been put into a class that I can use in other programs and some other more general code cleanup.

1st Update released Nov 22, 2004. Now your settings are saved when you exit the program so that the next time you run it, you don't need to change everything from F to C or set your Hydrometer calibration temperature. It even stores and remembers the last style you were looking at in the style guide.
